So the Mom of this little boy tells me that he would like to get a picture with the Lanterns.  I look at her, look at all the scary Black Lanterns on the steps, then look back at her and inquisitively ask "so...he wants to get a picture with all the Green Lanterns....?"  She looked away from the steps at me and quietly but emphatically told me "no, he Likes the Black Lanterns." 

So I got down on one knee, shook the boy's hand and asked him his name.  He looked me in the eye and told me his name.  Still holding his hand, I asked him "Would you like to be killed by the Black Lanterns?"  The little boy looked down at the ground for a moment....summed up his courage.....looked back up at me.....and then confidently said:

"That would be cool."

So I stood up, patted him on the back in the direction of the steps and told the Black Lanterns (who were about to step off): "We have a request.  (Name withheld) here would like to be killed by the Black Lanterns."  (I'm pretty sure all those Black Lanterns were smiling underneath all that makeup.)  I got down on a knee again and told the little boy to carefully get down on his knees and to look up at the camera.  I think it was Jeff in the crowd who told him to stop smiling - and then this little boy all on his own makes this classic face shown above. 

I went back over to the Mom while the shot was getting taken and asked "How's that?"  She looked at me beaming and was smiling from ear-to-ear.
