Posts: 658 11/18/09 11:12 Beware my Power!! SCF Superhero	That's Uber-cool Is there anything else that works like Bondo? I've been trying to find it here in Australia but nobody appears to sell it. Closest I've found is a putty called Milliput. Here's a link to my WIP. Posts: 162 11/19/09 8:20 SCF Superhero	Thanks Chris! The putty that you see on the seam actually is milliput. As far as a comparible substance to Bondo, I would think anything called "auto body filler" would work. Bondo is just a namebrand.

Posts: 162 11/20/09 3:01 SCF Superhero	I think I've found my solution for the lighting- 200,000mcd/200 lumens green LEDs... 10 of them on either side. One LED at that power is bright enough to light up a room at night (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfXKHth8cVc), so I think putting 10 on either side with a chrome focusing cone like one fount in a flashlight should do just the trick. And sinde they're LEDs, they won't pump out heat and should last for about 100,000 hours before dropping intensity. So... win!

There's transparent airbrush paint if you wanted to make it glowing green as well. Just thinking out loud. You've probably thought of this already.

Posts: 162 11/20/09 12:44 SCF Superhero	Haha, thought of, and implimented. The negative space behind the lantern is actually frosted plastic that's been masked off. The battery will be painted with Rusteolum chrome first, then Tamiya clear green. Before the green, I'm going to take the masking off so it'll all get painted the same color. You shouldn't be able to tellit's translucent until the battery lights up.

That would be really appreciated. LED's are such a handy thing. The difference is size and minimal heat output really makes for a great benefit. The fact that with the Alan Scott style lantern there is really only one side the light leaves from gives me enough room inside the body of the Lantern for a storage compartment for Con related stuff that would not normally fit on a GL costume i.e. camera, wallet, small change etc. I'm going to partition the middle of mine and make sure either the top or bottom are removable for change of goodies, lights and batteries. Posts: 658 12/27/09 5:10 Beware my Power!! SCF Superhero	Here's my finished Alan Scott Train Lantern. This is Mark 3 and what I think will be the final version. It's all wired up and operates via the pull on / push off knob on the lower right hand side of the base. It's got 6 ultra-bright Green LEDs to give it a decent glow. All up the parts were around $100 Australian and it can be put together in about 4 or so days (as long as you let the glue set and the paint dry ) I'll put together a tutorial which I'll post in about 8 or so days on the League of Lanterns and provide a link.
